My Personal brief

For this project I am planning to focus my attention on furniture design.
I shall look into the definition of ‘Locomotion’ and how the term will come through in my design
So far I am looking at the idea of physically moving something from one place to another, for example; taking a deck chair to the beach.

However I am still unsure as to whether I want the link to locomotion to be physical in this sense and so I shall research more and jot down some quick ideas, before deciding exactly what I want.

I am very interested in nature, and I love the idea of natural form and so I hope to be able to somehow include nature into my design concept, maybe by design something for the outdoors?

I am also going to research greatly into sustainability to incorporate this into my designs in order to keep to the brief given, and also understand that sustainability is quite essential within design today.
When I have completed my research I shall write a sustainability statement.

I shall ensure that as I progress further with the project I shall constantly update the blog with my idea’s, research, photos and references.

D1.4 Personal Project

For my personal project we have been asked to focus on the sustainability of design.
The brief given is very vague and allows much freedom. The brief is based around the concept of 'Locomotion' meaning 'to move' and 'place'

My project will include:
o  A personal reflection of my design practice
 o  Personal design brief
o  Initial ideas and exploration of possibilities
o  Evidence of research relevant to the chosen brief
 o  Design development
o  Sustainability statement - with references
o  Presentation of the emerging design concept.

To get the best out of this project I shall look outside of the box and work out how I personally interpret 'Locomotion'. I shall also decide on the pathway that I am most interested in and wish to continue looking into.
